The following CAT4 Level X sample questions are taken from the complete practice package and are also available in two other formats:

CAT4 Level X Figures Sample Questions (Non-verbal Reasoning)

Choose the answer that shares the same connection/characteristic as the three given images.

Question 1

CAT4 Level X Sample Question - Figures

The correct answer is D.

The arrow shapes on the left are all the same but rotated. So, we need to look for an identical arrow in the answer choices, which is rotated differently from the three given shapes.

Question 2

CAT4 Year 2 Sample Question - Figures

The correct answer is C.

Each figure on the left has two intersections on its line. We need to look for an answer choice that contains a line with two intersections.

The only option with two intersections is (C).

Question 3

Sample Question - Figures

The correct answer is E.

Each figure has a large shape containing a black circle beside it, with one line extending inside the shape.

We can use the elimination technique on this question, as all answer choices except for answer (E) have black circles inside of the shapes instead of outside of them.

Figures questions can be particularly challenging for children aged 6-7 since most students encounter these question types for the first time.

Our complete practice package includes over 80 such questions, providing your child with plenty of opportunities to practice and improve.

CAT4 Level X Words Questions (Verbal Reasoning)

Choose the word that belongs in the same group as the first three words.

Question 4

stove | refrigerator | dishwasher

The first three words are stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. These are all kitchen appliances.

Therefore, we need to select the answer choice that is also a kitchen appliance. The correct answer is microwave.

Question 5

mug | cup | glass

The first three words are mug, cup, and glass. These are all containers to hold drinks or beverages.

Therefore, we must select the answer choice, which is also a beverage container. The correct answer is goblet.

CAT4 Level X Numbers Questions (Quantitative Reasoning)

Each question provides a series of numbers that have a rule. Use the rule to determine which number will come next in the series.

Question 6

5     7     8     10     11     13     14     16     17     ?

In this series, the pattern is as follows: first, 2 is added, then 1 is added, then 2 is added, then again 1 is added.

Then, the pattern repeats itself: 2 is added, then again 1 is added, then 2 is added, then again 1 is added, and so on.

The pattern is: +2, +1, +2, +1, +2, +1, +2, +1, …

The last three numbers in the series are 14, 16, and 17; 16 is larger than 14 by 2, and 17 is larger than 16 by 1. Therefore, the next number in the series should be larger than 17 by 2.

17 + 2 = 19

Therefore, the correct answer is 19.

Question 7

0     7     14     21     28     35     ?

The correct answer is 42.

In this series, each number is increased by 7.

The pattern is: +7, +7, +7, +7, …

The final number in this sequence is 35. So, we’ll add 7 to this number and get the correct answer:

35 + 7 = 42

Therefore, (B) – 42, is the correct answer.

For young students, math doesn’t always come naturally, and some may struggle with it.

However, the more your child practices these types of questions, the better they’ll become at solving them.

Question 8

4     66     3     66     2     66     ?

The correct answer is 1.

In the given sequence, the numbers starting from 4 descend with an alternate number 66 falling in between.

The last two numbers in the sequence are 2 and 66. Therefore, the next number will be less than 2, which is 1.

CAT4 Level X Shapes Questions (Spatial Ability)

Choose the answer choice that contains the given shape. The shape must keep its size and orientation.

Question 9

Practice Question - Shapes

The correct answer is (B).

The shape is visible at the bottom of the figure.

Question 10

CAT4 Level X Practice Question - Shapes

The correct answer is (D).

The shape is visible at the top right side of the figure.
