We’ll walk you through the following:

So, let’s dive right in.

What to Expect on the GardaWorld Pre-Board Screening Officer Test?

The GardaWorld screening officer test comprises two assessments – an X-ray Object Recognition Test (30 minutes) and a multiple-choice aptitude test (60 minutes). You must pass both assessments to be invited for the interviews.

Essential Things to Know Before the GardaWorld Assessment:

  • The exam is taken in a testing center. Prepare to be there for at least several hours.
  • Pay attention to the dress code. Since you might be interviewing on this day, wear business professional or business casual attire.
  • There will be a short break between the two tests, in which candidates who haven’t passed the first one will be asked to leave.

Let’s go over each of the two tests and try several practice questions that resemble the actual assessment. Visit this page to take full-length practice tests (X-ray and Aptitude) for the GardaWorld assessment.

X-Ray Object Recognition Test (ORT) Overview, Sample Questions & Tips

On the GardaWorld X-Ray ORT test, you’ll have 30 minutes to answer a series of questions with X-ray images. For each picture, you’ll have 20 seconds to decide whether it contains a dangerous object (gun, grenade, knife, and swiss knife) or not.

Note that you’re not allowed to return to previous questions on this test.

To pass this portion, you must answer at least 80% of the questions correctly. Before you start the exam, the proctor will provide a tutorial with useful tips for analyzing the X-ray images, so pay attention.

Free Sample Questions – X-Ray ORT

For the following X-ray images, choose whether you see a gun, grenade, knife, or none of these.

GardaWorld Pre-Board Screening Officer Test X-Ray example
  1. Gun
  2. Grenade
  3. Knife
  4. None of the above

The correct answer is (4) – None of the above.

GardaWorld Assessment X-Ray question example
  1. Gun
  2. Grenade
  3. Knife
  4. None of the above

The correct answer is (1) – Gun.

In this question, there is a gun. You can recognize it by the trigger, grip, and barrel. It is mostly dark green. However, the parts that overlap with the handles of the suitcase appear blue due to their shared density.

Take additional X-ray ORT practice tests to improve your ability to solve these questions.

GardaWorld Object Recognition Tips

Here are three tips to help you prepare for this portion:

  • The X-ray images are colored based on the density of the scanned items. Learning them in advance will help you analyze the images quicker:
    – Blue represents dense materials, such as metal and hard plastics.
    – Green represents less dense materials, such as toys, ceramics, and light plastics.
    – Orange represents the least dense materials, which are usually natural or biological materials: food, plants, wood, animals, powders, rubber, and leather.
  • Search the items using a specific method to ensure that you cover every part of the luggage. Also, examine the outlines of the luggage for items that could be hidden there.
  • If you can’t detect the dangerous item and you’re running out of time, assume it’s not there. Do not leave questions unanswered.

Aptitude Test Overview & Sample Questions

After you pass the X-ray test, you’ll take a 100-question aptitude test, with a 60-minute time limit. The test is comprised of the following topics:

  • Basic Math
  • English Skills: grammar, spelling, reading comprehension
  • Pattern Recognition

As with the X-ray ORT test, you’ll need to answer at least 80% of the questions correctly to pass the aptitude test (80 questions out of 100).

Free Sample Questions – Aptitude Test

Math

Product A is on sale for $12.09. How much would seven of these products cost?

A. $84.63
B. $83.63
C. $83.64
D. $84.36

The correct answer is (A).

The total is calculated by multiplying the price of product A by the amount of products purchased: 12.09×7=$84.63

English Skills

Select the word that is spelled incorrectly.

A. apprehensive
B. deduction
C. misspell
D. retreive

The correct answer is D.

The correct spelling of the word is “retrieve”. The letter I usually comes before E. An exception is when these two letters follow the letter C, in which case the letter E will come first, as in the word “receive”.

Read the passage and then answer the question that follows.

Moisture control is the key to mold control. When water leaks or spills occur indoors, a prompt response (within 24-48 hours) and thorough clean-up will prevent or limit mold growth. Mold prevention tips include repairing plumbing leaks in the building and maintaining indoor humidity below 70%.

After 48 hours wet spots will develop mold.

A. True
B. False
C. Not possible to say if the statement is true or false based on the passage

The correct answer is C.

Although the passage urges the cleaning of wet spots within a time frame of 48 hours, it does not clarify the time it takes for mold to develop. It might be 48 hours or it might be more (or even less). We don’t have enough information.

Pattern Recognition

Choose the figure that completes the series.

Pattern Recognition Sample Question

The correct answer is the middle one.

There are three rules in this series:

Rule 1: The large shapes appear in the following order: circle, triangle and diamond. Therefore, the missing diagram should be a diamond. This eliminates three answer options.

Rule 2: The color of the inner shapes alternates from black to white, meaning that the next color should be white.

Rule 3: The inner shape also appears in a specific order: triangle, diamond and circle. The missing diagram should have a circle inside the larger shape.
