Step 3: Entrance Assessments (CAT4 and More)
The Regent International School uses entrance exams or assessments to understand each child’s learning needs and ensure appropriate class placement.
FS1 & FS2 (Ages 3–4):
- Informal 15-minute play-based session
- Focus: Social skills, communication, and readiness for school
Year 1 & 2 (Ages 5–6):
- 20-minute English and Mathematics assessment
- Review of previous school reports
Year 3 & Up: CAT4 and Writing Assessment
What is the CAT4 Test?
The CAT4 test evaluates your child’s cognitive abilities:
- Verbal reasoning: Language and comprehension skills
- Non-verbal reasoning: Problem-solving using visuals and patterns
- Quantitative reasoning: Understanding numbers and relationships
- Spatial ability: Visualising shapes and spatial thinking
Purpose: It helps RIS understand your child’s strengths and learning profile, not to pass or fail.
Assessment Details:
- Year 3: 60-minute CAT4 (Level Pre-A / Y) + 30-minute writing task (“My Favourite Toy” or “My Holidays”)
- Years 4–6: 90-minute CAT4 + 30-minute writing task (“My Holidays”)
- Years 7–9: 90-minute CAT4 + 30-minute writing task (“News Report”)
- Years 10–12: 90-minute CAT4 + mock results + school reports + leadership interview
ELL (English Language Learner) students also complete an English Benchmark Test.
Prepare at home using our CAT4 Test Guide. It includes sample questions for all levels (Pre-A to G).
Additional Support:
If assessments indicate additional learning support is needed, the school will schedule meetings with the Head of Phase and the Inclusion Team to create a tailored plan.
Step 4: Offer of Admission
Once your child successfully completes the assessment process and the school confirms their readiness, you will receive an official offer letter from Regent International School Dubai.
This letter is a significant milestone — it means your child has been accepted, pending your confirmation.
To secure your child’s place at Regent International School, you will need to complete two essential actions:
- Sign and return the offer letter — this is your formal acceptance of the school’s offer and agreement to move forward with the enrolment process.
- Pay the Advance Fee, which is 10% of the annual tuition fee. This fee is required to reserve your child’s seat and will later be deducted from the first term’s tuition payment.
Important: You have a window of five calendar days to complete these steps. If you do not confirm and pay within this timeframe, the school will offer the place to another applicant on the waitlist. Timely action is crucial to secure your spot!
Step 5: Final Registration & KHDA Approval
Once you’ve accepted the offer and paid the Advance Fee, you’re almost at the finish line!
Before your child officially starts at Regent International School, you’ll need to complete a few final formalities:
Upload All Final Documents
Ensure that all required documents (school reports, ID copies, immunization records, etc.) have been submitted to the admissions team. Missing documents can delay registration.
Sign the KHDA Parent-School Contract
This is a critical legal step. The KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) requires all schools and parents in Dubai to enter into this contract.
What does it cover?
- Tuition fees and payment schedule
- School policies and expectations
- Parent responsibilities and commitments
The school will send you a link via SMS or email to complete the contract digitally.
Please note: Without signing this contract, your child cannot be officially registered with the KHDA, and school attendance cannot begin. It is essential for ensuring your child’s full compliance with Dubai’s education regulations.
Once these steps are completed, you can breathe easy — your child’s place at Regent International School Dubai is fully confirmed!
Step 6: Orientation & Welcome Pack
To help families transition smoothly into school life, Regent International School Dubai hosts an Orientation Programme before the academic term begins. This thoughtful session is designed to make both parents and children feel prepared, confident, and excited for the start of school.
